Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Vikrant has received his medical education and training at the premier institutes of India and the United Kingdom. He did his MBBS from Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, MD (Medicine) from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, and DM (Nephrology) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and PDF (Renal Transplantation Medicine) from Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) Lucknow. In addition, he has done an International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis Fellowship at Hammersmith Hospital, London, and Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship tenable in the United Kingdom at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. 

Prof. Vikrant has teaching and research experience of over 25 years. He joined as a faculty at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, in 2002, set up the Department of Nephrology, and served as Professor & Head from 2011 -2020. His areas of interest are clinical nephrology, dialysis, kidney transplantation, and critical care nephrology. He has more the 50 research papers (First author 41, Corresponding Author 45, Original articles 26) published in PubMed-indexed international and national journals. Since 2014 he has been a Fellow of the Indian Society of Nephrology and, since 2017, a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology. In addition, he is the Medical Council of India/National Medical Commission Assessor for DM Nephrology. 

His motto is sincerity, hard work, and pursuit of excellence in patient care, research, and medical education. He pioneered Nephrology services in Himachal Pradesh and established a successful chronic peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplant program. He was awarded a ‘Certificate of Merit’ by the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh in 2020.
