Mission Statement
The Department of Radiotherapy at AIIMS Bilaspur is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based, and affordable radiation therapy using advanced technologies for all cancer patients. It strives to foster excellence in teaching and training of undergraduate, postgraduate, and allied health professionals, while promoting translational and clinical research to enhance cancer diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life. The department emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration through integration with surgical, medical, and supportive oncology services, extends community outreach for cancer prevention, early detection, and awareness across Himachal Pradesh and neighboring regions, and upholds ethical standards, compassion, and patient safety as the guiding principles of all its endeavors.

In-Patient Department:
The In-Patient Department of Radiotherapy at AIIMS Bilaspur provides comprehensive care to patients requiring hospitalization for cancer management. It caters to individuals undergoing concurrent chemoradiation, brachytherapy, and those needing supportive or palliative care for treatment-related complications. The department ensures continuous medical supervision, skilled nursing support, and multidisciplinary coordination to deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care. Emphasis is placed on symptom management, patient comfort, and holistic recovery to enhance treatment outcomes and quality of life.
Out-Patient Department:
The Out-Patient Department of Radiotherapy at AIIMS Bilaspur offers comprehensive services for the evaluation, consultation, and management of patients with various cancers. In addition to radiotherapy treatment planning and follow-up care, the OPD provides facilities for day-care chemotherapy and palliative care to ensure holistic cancer management. A multidisciplinary team of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, nurses, and allied health professionals work together to deliver personalized, evidence-based, and compassionate care. The department focuses on timely diagnosis, symptom relief, patient counseling, and education, aiming to enhance treatment outcomes and overall quality of life.
Procedures (Diagnostic and/or Therapeutic) Offered by the Department
Diagnostic Procedures:
- Clinical evaluation and staging of cancer patients.
- Image-guided procedures for diagnosis and treatment planning in coordination with Radiology and Pathology departments.
- Simulation-based imaging using CT simulator for accurate tumor localization and treatment planning.
- Radiological correlation and contour delineation for target and organ-at-risk assessment.
- Toxicity evaluation and response assessment during and after therapy.
Therapeutic Procedures:
- External Beam Radiotherapy (EBRT): 3D-CRT, IMRT, VMAT, and IGRT.
- Stereotactic Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery (SRT/SRS) for intracranial and selected extracranial lesions.
- Brachytherapy: Intracavitary, interstitial, and surface mold applications.
- Day-Care Chemotherapy with systemic chemotherapy and supportive infusions.
- Palliative Care Services including symptom-directed radiotherapy and pain management.
- Treatment Planning and Verification: CT-based simulation, immobilization, contouring, and dose optimization.
- Follow-up and Survivorship Care for disease control, toxicity management, and quality-of-life enhancement.
